Let’s Talk about the Middle East, Sept. 5.

Free film showing (“A Separation”) and discussion led by Dr. Leena Dallasheh at the Richard’s Goat Miniplex (401 I Street, Arcata). Thursday, Sept. 5, 5:30 p.m. A middle-class family in Tehran is embroiled in strife over the decision to leave the country for a better life for their 11-year-old daughter or staying to care for her ailing grandfather. Through the legal struggle that ensues, the film explores the complexities of class, politics, religion, and family structure in contemporary Iran. See the Facebook event here.

Study Abroad Fair, Sept. 5.

The Center for International Programs will host a Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the UC Quad. Attend and learn more about study abroad opportunities through Humboldt!

Flexible, part-time job opportunity.

The U.S. Census Bureau is looking for people verify addresses and, eventually, conduct questionnaires locally. See here for more details. Census takers in Humboldt County will earn $16.50 an hour.

Financial literacy workshops.
