NEWS FOR HISTORY STUDENTS -- 10-14-19

  1. Sacramento Semester Program, deadline Nov. 1. The Sacramento Semester Program offers students from any major the opportunity to work with members of the legislature, the executive branch, or with political associations and lobbyists during a four and one-half month internship in the spring semester. Participants also take seminars for a total of 12 semester units, which are transferable to your home campus. Typically, Sacramento Semester students conduct legislative research, monitor bills, correspond with constituents or grassroots membership, prepare press releases and newsletters, and participate in budget work and campaign planning.   2. Indigenous Peoples Week, Oct. 13-19. See the attached flyer for the full schedule of Indigenous Peoples Week activities. IPW will wrap up at the Eureka Theater on Saturday with the documentary “From Wounded Knee to Standing Rock,” the story of how a 10-week shooting war with the FBI sparked four decades of change in Indian Country. 
  3. Internship Week, Oct. 21-24. The Academic and Career Advising Center will be presenting a series of informative workshops during Internship Week. The workshops will cover a wide range of interests including STEM, overseas internships, working with animals, local and Federal internships, outdoor adventure, Research Experiences for Undergrads (REU), and more.
